Determining Intention
It’s sometimes hard to identify another person’s intention, but if you look for subtle hints, it usually reveals itself. Though anyone—including a veterinarian—can have an off day occasionally, character traits displayed consistently over time will often illuminate an individual’s intention. Moreover, if you can attune with the veterinarian’s energy, you’ll feel whether you are aligned with similar energies. (When dissimilar energies come in contact, we often have a feeling of wanting to get away.) Pay attention to the feelings that arise when you’re with your veterinarian. Your feelings will not mislead you even though you might try to rationalize them away.
Your pet can be a great indicator to you of another person’s intentions. Because pets live totally in the moment, they’re also masters of reading the situation at hand. Feelings like love and compassion create light and soothing vibrational energies, whereas fearful feelings vibrate at much lower frequencies, causing discomfort and agitation. The energies might be coming from conscious or unconscious beliefs on the part of the veterinarian, but to pets, they are very real and very telling. If pets feel comfortable with the energetic connection between them and the veterinarian, they will let you know by showing signs of acceptance.
Of course, there are those pets with fearful personalities (more on that in Chapter Eight) or that have had bad experiences that might provoke fearful responses. In these cases, the caretaker will have to rely on knowledge of the pet to determine whether the fear is due to the veterinarian or is a typical response to unfamiliar people and situations.
I’m embarrassed to admit that there are veterinarians who spend a lot of time focusing on the bottom line. But of course, veterinarians are human beings, and we are all subject to a variety of concerns. That said, if a veterinarian becomes overly focused on monetary gain, there might be a shift of intention; helping the pet might become secondary to financial motives. If we accept the intention principle and its influence on healing, we realize that if the intention is on the financial situation (whether consciously or unconsciously), the results of the healing process could be altered.
It can be difficult to determine whether finances are involved in a veterinarian’s intentions, but there are subtle signs you can look for. For example, these veterinarians can become defensive when asked to explain charges. Concerns about being compensated create energy that vibrates at a lower level than do love and compassion. While this is not necessarily negative energy, it’s less conducive to healing than higher-level energy.
Also be aware of situations that make you feel physically bad inside (usually in the gut area). Again, certain intentions generate lower-level energy frequencies and are easy to detect if you become aware of your own feelings. Trust your instincts, and if you feel unsettled, or feel any reservations, consider finding another veterinarian who resonates with you and your pet.
